Anti-terrorist Centre of the Internal Security Agency is one of the most important tools of the Polish state to recognize terrorist threats. The essence of its operation is to coordinate the exchange of information between entities of the system of anti-terrorist protection of Poland. The free flow of information between the services of security of the state and other institutions is possible thanks to the work of this unit. It is also involved in supporting decision- -making in cases of real emergency. Characteristics of the Centre, the history of its origin, the nature, purpose and conducted domestic and international cooperation, is presented in this paper on the background of the system of counteracting terrorist threats in Poland and the involvement of special services of Poland in this system − with emphasis on the leading role of the Internal Security Agency.
