ABSTRACT
Population aging and the growing importance of age diversity pose new challenges for contemporary organizations in addressing stereotypes and the social exclusion of older adults. One of the most significant issues remains ageism, manifested in persistent beliefs and attitudes toward old age and older people. The aim of this article is to present the potential of behavioral shaping of attitudes toward aging through experiential learning and to highlight the importance of such interventions for creating environments that support age inclusion. The article presents the author’s educational program, “Understanding Old Age” workshops, designed for secondary school students and based on the use of a geriatric experience simulator. The paper discusses the assumptions underlying the workshops, their structure, and the mechanisms through which they influence participants’ attitudes. Particular attention is paid to the role of direct experience of age-related limitations in fostering empathy, reflection, and a deeper understanding of the needs and challenges faced by older adults. The analysis suggests that simulated experience can serve as an effective tool for reducing age-related stereotypes and strengthening attitudes grounded in respect and intergenerational solidarity. The conclusions indicate that experiential learning constitutes a valuable instrument of behavioral intervention that may be applied not only in formal education but also in organizational training initiatives aimed at developing inclusive cultures that embrace age diversity. Consequently, behavioral shaping of attitudes toward aging may contribute to the development of more inclusive organizations and societies.
