Reforming education in Poland – economization
of the discourse

ABSTRACT
This article aims to analyze marketization of polish education system. The
author indicates some symptoms of this process in the public discourse. The issue is
analyzed in two levels. The first one covers the official documents concerning general
strategy of polish education system. Second, deals with the discourse analysis of the
Central Examination Committee projects, especially on the occasion of the reform of
examination process. The analysis reveals that economical language appears often and
directly at both levels of discourse on education. The author puts described process
of marketization in the broader phenomenon which could be called hegemony of
neoliberal discourse. This phenomenon was identified e.g. by German sociologist
Jurgen Habermas who called it a colonization of lifeworld by systems
