Until the half of the 80’s of XX century the world has found itself in the danger of the world war which could end in destroying life on the earth. As the result of changes in the Soviet Union politic towards the west countries the improvement of those relations occurred. That new approach enabled democratic changes in the east European countries. The new era in relations between east and west Europe countries was called Visegrád Group and started functioning in the beginning of the 90’s. During the meeting of the Presidents of Poland, Czechoslovakia and the prime minister of Hungary on the 15th of February 1991 it was decided to establish new regional union called Visegrád Group or Visegrád Four because from 1993 it embraced of four countries: Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia. Among the countries a new model of cooperation occurred. This is a common social phenomenon related to active involvement of many people in conducting tasks and activities aiming to achieving common goals. Transboundary cooperation has a significant importance in creating European cooperation with all important factors in the scope of national and international security system. The author presents the development and actual scope of transfrontier cooperation in the field of security of border services of Visegrád Group.
