Makroekonomia, jako jedna z głównych gałęzi ekonomii, zajmuje się analizą funkcjonowania całej gospodarki narodowej oraz mechanizmów rządzących zjawiskami takimi jak wzrost gospodarczy, inflacja, bezrobocie czy polityka gospodarcza państwa. Jej znaczenie wzrasta szczególnie w czasach zawirowań gospodarczych, napięć geopolitycznych oraz wyzwań związanych z nierównościami społecznymi i zmianami klimatycznymi. Zrozumienie podstawowych koncepcji makroekonomicznych jest dziś niezbędne nie tylko dla ekonomistów, ale także dla decydentów politycznych, przedsiębiorców i obywateli. Współczesna makroekonomia wykracza poza klasyczne modele i coraz częściej uwzględnia kwestie związane z instytucjami, strukturami społecznymi, polityką oraz środowiskiem naturalnym. To sprawia, że jej interdyscyplinarny charakter staje się kluczowy w analizie i rozwiązywaniu problemów gospodarczych XXI w. Niniejsza monografia ma na celu przedstawienie kompleksowego obrazu podstaw makroekonomii z uwzględnieniem zarówno teorii, jak i praktyki oraz zastosowań w aktualnych warunkach gospodarczych.
